Replacement of riser bars

Gecsa, a leading company in the industrial sector specializing in high-intensity conductors, embarked on a crucial corrective maintenance project at a major zinc production plant. With a reputation for technical excellence, Gecsa took on the challenge with the aim of demonstrating its capability and commitment in this key industrial environment.

Tasks to be Performed: At the client's plant, Gecsa carried out a series of specialized tasks, among which the following stand out:

  • Corrective maintenance at the zinc production plant.
  • Removal of 2 old aluminum risers.
  • Supply and installation of new aluminum risers with Cu-Al bimetallic strips.
  • Repair of the damaged equipotential welding on the main busbar.
  • Execution of tasks within very tight maintenance deadlines.

Challenges on field: During the project execution, Gecsa technicians faced significant challenges, such as difficulty in unscrewing the riser in the transition area to copper due to seized screws. Additionally, the need to use special chainsaws to cut the old riser due to its large section. All these tasks had to be performed in a confined space, adding complexity to the project. In the Cu-Al connection area, Gecsa technicians had to clean the copper bar to achieve efficient connection. Despite all these difficulties, the Gecsa team demonstrated its ability to overcome these obstacles with effective solutions.

Outcome: The project was masterfully executed by Gecsa, deploying 5 highly trained operators who completed the work in record time. The MIG welding by our certified welders ensured the integrity of the aluminum joints, and the strategies applied to resolve unexpected problems were successful. Despite the challenges encountered, the Gecsa team received praise for their exceptional performance. This project not only met tight deadlines but also established a solid foundation for a long-term trusted relationship with the client, based on the technical expertise and efficiency demonstrated by Gecsa.
